This old circuit was found in a Radio Experimenter (1950). The critical component is the transformer, an audio output transformer with a high impedance primary woiding. The phone is a high impedance 2 000 ohm type. Power come from a dual supply, with voltages for the heater and the +B. The 2 Meg potentiometer (2M2) controls the tone.
