Our planet acts as a great conductor in which current induced by natural electric discharges, man-made equipment, and unknown sources flows in undetermined directions.

By inserting two electrodes at various locations, as shown in Fig. 1, and plugging them into the input of an audio amplifier, we can hear low-frequency currents in the form of sounds.

Mixed with the background noise, it is possible to find some strange signals.

By recording them, the paranormal researcher can make interesting discoveries.

Conducting experiments with signals picked up from the Earth is easy:

1. Place two metal bars (40 to 120 cm long) into the Earth with a separation of 3 to 40 m.

2. Connect them with any common wire to a transformer (to isolate the circuit from the signals and to match impedances). Any transformer with a low-impedance (low voltage) winding and a high-impedance (high voltage) winding can be used.

3. If the transformer has taps, add a switch that will allow you to choose the position on the windings that produces the best results.

4. Any audio amplifier with a power output ranging from 500 mW to 20 W can be used.

5. You can hear the sounds directly, or record them for later processing, to look for anything strange in the playback.

6. Filters (noise, hum, etc.) can be installed between the transformer and the input of the amplifier for improved results. Figure 1 shows a “Sounds from the Earth” pickup station made with simple parts.
