This 1995 circuit uses an audio amplifier that is no longer common today. However, other amplifiers can be used while maintaining the super-regenerative input step. L1 can have from 2 to 4 turns of 1 cm shaped wire without core, depending on the desired range of 80 to 150 MHz. XFR consists of approximately 50 turns of 32 wire in a 100 k or larger resistor of ½ W.
