This circuit suggested by Motorola can be used as LED high frequency modulator. One possible application is in circuits involving fiber optic data transmission. The emitter is an infrared LED with mechanical capabilities for direct fiber optic coupling. Digital data transmission with this circuit can reach speeds of up to 200 Mbaud (NRZ).
