Figure shows the basic application of a data selector using the 4051 . The same configuration is valid for other data selectors, such as the 4052 [one-of-four] and 4053 [one-of-two]. The digital number programmed in the address input determines which output wiII be connected to the output. When working with digital data, Vdd is connected to the positive voltage and Vss to ground. When working with analog signals, Vdd is connected to a +5 V source, Vss to ground and Vee to a -5 V source The analog signal must not exceed the amplitude of the power-supply voltage. The frequency response of each channel when on is 40 MHz when the circuit is powered from a supply of 10 V.
