This circuit uses one of two D-type flip-flops available on an integrated circuit 4013. The circuit time constant is given by R and C which determine the time interval at which the outputs remain active, then return to the initial state. The diode is commonly used. Only half of the integrated circuit was used, with unused IC pins grounded to avoid instability.
