This simple circuit can drive a reed-relay when light falls onto the photo-transistor. The photo-transistor not common in our days, but equivalent can be used. The reed-relay can be a home-made unit. Wind about 1 000 tuns of 32 or 34 AWG wire in a common reed switch.
