I set up an amplifier and when I turn on the microphone I have at its entrance, the sound is extremely low. The same happens when you connect a pickup to my guitar. What could be happening?
Microphones and pickups have an impedance and amplifiers also have an input impedance. The amplifier's impedance must match the signal sources. If the impedance of the amplifier is high and that of the microphone or pickup is low, there will not be enough signal to excite the circuit and the sound comes out low. You should then check the impedance of the microphone or pickup used to see if this is the cause. If this occurs, an appropriate preamplifier must be used. For low impedance microphones, for example, we must have a circuit with low input and output impedance according to the amplifier.
