Many devices continue to consume energy even when turned off. Isn't that a waste?
In fact, the energy consumption of many devices in the standby state is switched off, but with a small consumption for a circuit that is attentive to the remote-control command signal or a start button, it is very small.
However, if we add many thousands of devices in this condition, consumption can be high. In a residence with few appliances that remain in this state of waiting, total consumption is negligible, of the order of a few thousandths of watts, which represents no more than an extremely small fraction of energy costs. For safety reasons, it is recommended that these devices be disconnected from the network when staying away from home for a long time.
