“I have an old audio amplifier in which the output transistors burned. I am not finding the original types. Can I use equivalents?”

In addition to the fact that many manufacturers use their own designations for the components of their boards, thus making repair difficult, there is a problem with the components being discontinued. Appliances older than 10 years are difficult to repair today. However, depending on the function, we can easily find modern equivalents. Thus, depending on the power of the amplifier, we can perfectly use pairs of BD series (up to 10 W), series TIP31/32 (up to 20W) and TIP4142 (up to 50 W) or even the Darlingtons if that is the case. A good technician, analyzing the circuit easily determines the equivalent to be used.
