I tested a rectifier diode with the multimeter and it indicated an inverse resistance of 60 k. Is this diode short or defective? Can I use it in a font?
Although leakage is always undesirable, in some applications an inverse resistance of values not too high can be tolerated. Thus, in the case of a rectifier diode for a small source, an inverse resistance above 50 k is tolerable. In this case the diode can be used. For a general purpose low current diode, however, this leak can be compromising, depending on the application.
