What is the best way to test a diode?
The best test depends only on what you intend to do with it, that is, its application. For a rectifier or general-purpose diode, for example, using the continuity test can give you the desired status indication: good or not. For a more accurate test, we can use a multimeter or a specific diode tester. In this case, it can indicate the leakage current, which can be important in some cases. Finally, we can have a much more elaborate test with a curve tracer and an oscilloscope.
