I have an infrared (IR) remote that has no reach. When I turn off the ambient light, it works better and the range is normal. What is going on?
Certain types of infrared remote control are heavily influenced by the light from fluorescent lamps and electronic bulbs, so there is a strong reduction in their range. A first possibility to solve the problem is to position the receiver (controlled device) in such a way that its sensor does not receive the ambient light causing the interference directly. A small screen can be placed next to the sensor. The second possibility is to change the ambient light to a type that does not cause interference.
