I found this circuit in a Lujy 1962 English magazine. The circuit is still viable by simply using a BC548 for TR1. The frequency between 300 kHz and 1 MHz is set on the variable capacitor. L1 consists of 100 loops of yarn 28 on a centrally plugged ferrite rod and L2 is formed of 30 loops of the same yarn over L1.
