How long does a capacitor stay charged?
The time that a capacitor retains its charge depends on several factors. The first is the possible existence of leaks. It depends so much on the material from which the dielectric is basically made. Thus, an electrolytic capacitor, which has more leaks, retains the charge for less time than a polyester capacitor of the same value. It also influences the environment which, if it is humid, facilitates the charge losses.
